| I read this book over and over when I was 6 or 7 (20 years ago), and still remember several of the poems off by heart. I would recommend it to any parent trying to encourage their children to read. |

| We all love this book in our family. It has a really well judged mix of funny and more serious poems, long and short and for a wide range of ages. Our children are 4 and 6 and we've been reading from it for the last couple of years (at least) and I can imagine they will still be reading from it themselves for quite a few years to come. I would say up to age 11, so it's good value for money. I'm about to buy it as a leaving present for my son's nursery. Poetry rarely seems to be read to the children ... Read More: |

| Our teachers in infant school used to read this book to us all the time! We all adored these poems - they're funny, touching and highly memorable.
Tales of Eddie (usually throwing a wobbly), and the secret eating of the chocolate cake have stayed with me for years and years as happy reminders of primary school. I recommend this book to any infant school teacher, and defy anyone who reads this book and doesn't enjoy it. Everyone should have a copy - I'm so happy that it's been re-published! ... Read More: |

| To add to the comments about age suitability, my daughter has really enjoyed this book since she was 12 months old. The pictures are so bold and fun and now, at 15 months old, she yells 'aaagh' every time we see the shark through the hole! |

| I brought this book back from London to the US for my 4-year-old daughter, who rapidly decided that it was her favorite. She's now 6 and, there's still about 1/3 of the book she's not ready for yet, but we reread stories from it often and add a new one every month or so. There's no other book on her shelf we read as often--it's a gem. |

| I bought this for my Daughter (who is 18 months) as I wanted to introduce her to Father Christmas. It is a time-honoured classic and the illustrations are really beautiful - I think I appreciate them much more than she does at the moment!
