| Just a really, really nice book, full of silliness and madcap humour. Spike was tuned in to children's wavelength like no one else. How he did this while suffering from depression and madness no one knows. How tragic that he suffered himself while giving such joy to so many people.

| Great way to introduce young, and old, to poetry. As a teacher I use this book often with my classes to start the day. Great read, go on treat yourself. |

| I got this book for my 5 month old daughter and I love it and so does she. The pictures are big and colourful, and she loves me reading the poems to her in a sing song way. I prefer it to books with one or two sentences! We also enjoy looking for the starfish doing silly things! The reason I have given the book 4 stars is because I would would have liked it more had it had stiffer pages that would be able to handle pulling and pushing and being chewed on. | As a child who was brought up on nursery rhymes from this book I believe it is a must have, including all your favourite rhymes as well some you may not have heard. It is a significant achievement that this book is still for sale having been published in 1969 and it is a testiment to its learning and entertainment value. I will ,however, admit to being biased as my Grandmother wrote/compiled it.... |

| There are lots of positive reviews for this book and I know why. I like the illustrations as they are colourful and fun. The verse has an energy and snappiness about it that keeps things moving and the usual humour from Giles Andreae.
One thing I don't like is that most of the animals mentioned couldn't live in one jungle. Lions, tigers and panthers are likely to be in Africa, Asia and South America respectively. Some of the rhymes are very lazy like the one about the elephant that doesn't say much other than ... Read More: |

| I bought this book together with the audio CD for my 2,5 year old son recently and despite my apprehension (about poems in general) it's been one of his firm favourites since then. The illustrations are colourful and funny, and the poems maintain his interest all the way through. Also, the voices on the audio CD are simply fantastic!
