| i imagine those of you that are studying these poems for gcse or similar have found what a pleasure carol ann duffys work is. happy go lucky sorties of death and betrayal are made a little easier and beasts such as "education for leisure" and "salome" are a little less dark and harrowing.... almost. good buys them books. |

| This book is a retelling of many of the greatest myths and legends of the Ancient Greek (and Roman) gods. The stories are told in a simple, engaging style, well suited to a children's book, without ever being patronising - which is quite a feat for an historian of Graves' standing.

| I read this book and I really didn't understand it I mean there's not really any plot, just the boy Michael, who happens to have weird things happening to him. We don't even really get to know how it ends properly. People say it is realistic, and it is or at least it would have been if the main character was a girl. | Not the best written story, it's not very inventive and feels quite loose, but is still very satirical, with plenty of references to our very different customs. Our Gallic heroes seem to get quite cross after a while with their cousins from across the water, for being so...well, English! A pacy adventure through Ancient Britain, complete with warm beer and strange customs. Very popular here, for obvious reasons, but I'm not sure if this is even in my top ten. |

| i bought this book because when i was at junior school (yr 6) my teacher read this to the class, and i was encased in the story from then on, this is a brilliant story even if after you read it you're not quite sure what it was about. it isn't a very long book so it's perfect to read to your kids (those that don't scare easy) i am now 17 and still look on this book with fond memories. |

| You may feel that having not read the whole book I am not in a position to review it - I can appreciate that, but I simply couldn't. I got lost, I got confused, I got frustrated, I gave up. Okay, books have heroes or heroines and, especially in children's books, they are amazing, do remarkable stuff and win, but Lyra just seems to do random stuff that always works.
